Location and memory access

Location services must be on in order for the X-GPS application to track an employee’s location and direct it to the service.

For the app to function properly without an Internet connection, you should allow it to access the device’s memory.

When the device is used in an area with no Internet connection (for example, outside of the city or when in roaming), the X-GPS application continues to run offline. This means that all the data on GPS tracks, task notes, photos, etc. will be stored in the device memory. Once the Internet connection is restored, the information will be automatically transmitted to the server.

To grant access:

  1. Head to Settings.
  2. Tap Applications or Application Manager (depending on your device).
  3. Select the X-GPS Tracker application.
  4. Tap Permissions.
  5. To grant permission to Location and Memory, toggle the slider to the right. The color will change to green.

Run in background

In order to receive location updates when the X-GPS app is minimized or the screen is locked, you should allow running in the background.

To enable this option:

  1. Head over to Settings.
  2. Click Applications or Application Manager (depending on your device).
  3. Select the X-GPS Tracker application.
  4. Go to Data usage or Traffic control section.
  5. Enable data transfer in the background. The toggle switch will turn gray.

Battery Saver

On some Android devices, power management settings meant to prolong your battery life can interfere with your app functionality, for ex., to force the application to quit if your smartphone or tablet computer has not recorded movements for a long time. To prevent the X-GPS application from being stopped by the system, we recommend to add it to the list of not optimized apps.

To do this:

  1. Head over to Settings.
  2. Tap Battery or Power (depending on device).
  3. Open the Battery Optimization section.
Note. This section can be also found in Advanced Settings by clicking on the three points at the top of the screen.
  4. Click on Filter and select All applications.
  5. Select X-GPS Tracker and opt for Don’t optimize.
